Ekerö.com
An independent site about Ekerö municipality, made for everyone who lives on the Mälaren islands or wants to come here. It belongs neither to the municipality nor to any tourist office, but is built by a small editorial team on clear rules: a source for everything, our own words and no money involved. The addresses ekero.net and ekero.org lead here.
How we work
- A source for everything. Places to stay, businesses and events have been checked against the business's own website, the municipality's visitor guide Upplev Ekerö or another source from 2025–2026, and the date of the check is shown on the page. Where there is no evidence we do not publish the detail, but list it openly as not yet verified.
- Our own words. We do not reproduce organisers', the municipality's or newspapers' texts. Summaries are rewritten.
- No money involved. Being listed is free, and we get nothing when someone books. We link directly to the businesses, never via booking sites.
- We pass visitors on. The point of the site is that the visitor finds their way to the palace, the farm shop or the bathing spot, not that they stay here.
- Broad coverage, not complete. Ekerö has many more businesses than one page can show. We try to cover each category properly and add more as we go. If your place is missing, tell us.
Sources
The basis is Ekerö municipality's pages and the visitor guide Upplev Ekerö, the Royal Court and the National Property Board for Drottningholm and Svartsjö, Strömma for Birka, the Swedish Transport Administration's ferry service for the ferries, SL for the buses, the Stockholm County Administrative Board for the nature reserves, Statistics Sweden for population and area, the businesses' own websites, and OpenStreetMap for the map. The map is built on OpenStreetMap's geometry for the municipal boundary, islands and places, simplified but not invented.
